HISTORY:
Little has been told of the hero Magic Lantern. His abilities are as yet unknown but it can be assumed from the POWER RING he wields on his right hand his powers are similar to those of Green Lanterns in the main timeline. On his homeworld known as Dreamworld, one of the infinite Earths believed destroyed in the so-called Crisis, Magic Lantern was part of the Love Syndicate.
When reality was frayed, causing a reversal of the effects of the Crisis, any world thought of by the Psycho Pirate came into existence in the main timeline. The Earth-3 villains POWER RING and Ultraman returned and were in turn were joined by beings from other Earths such as Magic Lantern and his fellow Love Syndicators, Sunshine Superman and Speed Freak.
Though many of them remembered being killed in the Crisis, the Psycho Pirate claimed they hadn't, they were in his memory the whole time.
More were coming and the Psycho Pirate could barely contain the infinite Earths in his mind. The Psycho Pirate was losing control when he thought of a horrible world on which the super-heroes were part of a government experiment gone wrong. The first hero created was Overman, a version of Superman. Other super-heroes were modified clones grown from Overman's cell scrapings, and rather than forming their own Justice League, were attached to the US military. When a virus affected Overman's brain, driving him mad, his Earth's heroes opposed him but the Flash, Batman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern were slain by the more powerful Overman.
[ANIMAL MAN # 23]
Though it seemed Overman would have destroyed all reality with a doomsday bomb, the insane powerhouse was removed from reality by Animal Man and the bomb was switched off. Disgusted with the reality he had returned to, POWER RING dissolved into a swirl of colors. Magic Lantern and the others soon followed. According to John Highwater, the heroes and villains from these infinite Earths went into the Medusa Mask of the Psycho Pirate.
[ANIMAL MAN # 24]
Though a few of these heroes and villains have been seen again in the reaches of Hypertime, Magic Lantern has yet to make a return appearance.
