HISTORY:
Little is known about Uatu the Guardian.  Prior to his descent into madness, Uatu was part of a group of Guardians that administered the Starbrand Corps.

Uatu had apparently gone insane, betraying the Corps, killing SINESTRO and framing HAL JORDAN for the events.  Disgraced and disbarred, Jordan became a fugitive, the Corps scoured the universe for him and one by one Uatu stalked and killed them all.  Uatu found a drunken Jordan in Crime Alley, a section of Gotham City on Earth.

The arrival of the Speed Demon prevented Uatu from killing Jordan.  Armed with a knife composed of emerald energy Uatu faced the Speed Demon but fell before the Demon's living hellfire.  Uatu was incinerated in moments.  Jordan's life was not spared by the Speed Demon either.  For his crimes, he too was enveloped in hellfire.

Uatu was revived at some later point through unknown means.  Utilizing the Mother Cube, the quartet of heroes known as the Challengers of the Fantastic cured Uatu's insanity during the event known as the Final Onslaught.

Though Uatu chose noninterference after regaining his sanity, he learned of a threat so great that he chose to break his vow.  In gratitude for the assistance given him by the Challengers of the Fantastic, Uatu warned them of the coming of Galactiac.

An ancient synthesis of mind and machine, Galactiac would travel from world to world to drain the lifeblood of a planet and charge his energy-cells.  Galactiac would spare a section of each world which he miniaturized for later study as he devoured the world.

While Ben "Rocky" Grimm, Sue "Ace" Storm and Reed "Prof" Richards were aided by the New Asgodian known as the Silver Racer in a frontal assault against Galactiac, Uatu sent Johnny "Red" Storm and Storm's miniature stormtrooper clone inside Galactiac's mind.  Using Johnny's reflexes, the tiny hero was able to dodge the many virtual deathtraps and ultimately nullify Galactiac's central neural systems.  Though his body was immobilized and weakened, Galactiac was still able to separate his head from the rest of his cybernetic form and escape, vowing to return.  Whether or not Uatu will come to Earth's aid a second time has yet to be seen.
